Our Province is born...the Journey Continues

Now that the United Anglican Church was formed, she began her first work. Among the accomplishments of that first service was the consecration of Fr. Sean E. Larkin as bishop. He was charged with the development of the Church at large, and oversight of congregations in Europe and Canada.
This was to become part of what is now known as Province II...The World Wide Province of the United Anglican Church. Archbishop and Primate, Gilbert McDowell also charged Bishop Larkin with continuing his work in actively pursuing reconciliation and dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church.
Archbishop McDowell died unexpectedly in Rome, October of 2003. The day after his funeral an emergency meeting of the College of Bishops was called. The Bishops chose and elected the Rt. Rev. Norman Strauss Archbishop and Primate of the United Anglican Church.
The College of Bishops then called for a Synod to be held in the spring of 2004 in Florida.

Our Province is Officially Recognized

The United Anglican Church Synod of 2004 met in St Louis to deal with the changes and needs of the churches after the recent death of Archbishop McDowell.
One of the changes needed was to officially recognize Province II and give it official status. This was accomplished at Synod, which confirmed the creation of the United Anglican Church Province II and the appointment of The Most. Rev. Sean Larkin as its Archbishop.
This status as an actual Province, was important to the life and growth of the Church, because as a newly established province, UAC II, (also known as the World Wide Province) would have all the rights and responsibilities of taking its place within the wider Church, held together by “bonds of affection”.
With church wide recognition and the authority granted to Archbishop Larkin, the United Anglican Church Province II was now poised to grow and develop, pursuing a vision of peace, unity and reconciliation in Europe, Canada and wherever the Lord would open the doors for opportunity.
